Cartoon Wars

It is really worth going to war over a cartoon? Many seem to think so, seems the recent controversy over a Danish Cartoon depicting Mohamed in an unflattering light ,is now being duplicated all over Europe ,with many European News Papers posting similar style cartoons provoking outrage in the Muslim community and threats of violence from various terrorist groups. Mind you bad taste cartoons have come under fire before and this is nothing new, but I don’t recall anyone taking hostages?

Didn’t notice Mayor Giuliani threatening to take hostages or murder anyone when the Brooklyn Museum held an exhibit featuring the Virgin bathed in urine….must have missed that ….perhaps the Muslim community should support more responsible spokes persons and make an effort to distance themselves from these nihilistic madmen that are an insult to Islam as well as the rest of humanity. If these Jihadist nut jobs don’t speak for Islam ,Muslims must renounce them and tell them to shut up ,if you don’t
however well meaning ,Islam will be doomed to feel the brunt of prejudice , hostility and harm brought on it by these Waco’s.

I appreciate your taking the time to put your thoughts in words and I appreciate that you make the distinction between radicals and Muslims Our faith has been hijacked and together with God fearing Christians and Jews we will work together against all negative forces. In this very flammable atmosphere, it is truly unprofessional and extremely irresponsible to publish anything that would offend even the most mild mannered Muslims certainly those insane radicals. Those radicals are sick people and need to be dealt with in a highly professional way. I say that not because I am concerned about their rights and freedom of expression; rather, because we need to protect all the sane and God fearing members of the world we live in. There is a clear line that separates freedom of expression from plain irresponsible and offensive expression and journalists and members of the media in particular ought to know better.
