Carbonite Stock Craters as company drops Limbaugh as spokes person

(RIDGEWOOD -NJ) March 7 2012 On Saturday, Carbonite CEO David Friend released a statement that his company Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show in the wake of his controversial remarks involving Georgetown Law student activist Sandra Fluke because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse”:

Apparently investors felt differently for the mediocre data backup company and sold the stock off aggressively after all how were they going to replace sales from Rush's huge 15-20 million member audience ,given so much new competition has arisen from the likes of  Microsoft and Google offering for free what Carbonite does for a price . Since the market opened on Monday through its close yesterday, Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) has dropped nearly 12%, outpacing the NASDAQ index in that same time period.. Carbonite  was also one of the biggest losers on the NASDAQ on Tuesday.

"Net neutrality" : I am from the Government and I am here to help.

Once again big brother is here to protect us from ourselves and we are told that Regulation is needed “to preserve Internet openness, helping ensure a future of opportunity, innovation and a vibrant marketplace of ideas,” says Julius Genachowski head of the FCC.Leading the push for new regulations for "Net neutrality" . This all sounds very nice ,but an administration that openly attacks Private Citizens for expressing views contrary to there own such as Joe the Plumber ,FOX News and Rush Limbaugh is going to be put in charge of openness on the Internet?

One look at the history of innovation suggests that innovation has happening despite Government intervention and in reaction to Government intervention (getting around it) not because of it . Once again the gang in Washington seems to be living in the 1970's with so many unresolved issues from that decade. The insecurities of the generation that never made it continue to manifest them self's in more regulatory over reach ,Government controls and a virulent anti private enterprise mentality..

Opponents say net neutrality rules could interfere with management of their networks, risking slowdowns when applications such as peer-to-peer file-sharing hog limited bandwidth. They also say they may pull back from investing billions of dollars in more network capacity. Network providers feel the FCC is threatening restrictions on the ability and flexibility to manage traffic. Managing traffic is clearly and underhanded way to gain Government control of the Internet access.Turning networks into one big Government monopoly . We are already seeing in the EU blocking peoples Internet access as a punishment. How much longer will it be before content is controlled under the ruse of "not limiting access" or certain IP profiles come under surveillance ?

the move left will not have the lasting impact some claim and many fear

Major indexes still are not indicating anything more than a very oversold rally at this juncture .New bank "stress tests" seem to be reassuring the market as regulators finally seem to be getting there hands around the problem .Bank stocks have continued to recover as the need for massive mounts of capital seems to be subsiding .Commodities have begun their long slow some would say inflationary climb upward were over regulation and scarcity policies are already putting upward pressure on prices. While at the same time a slow economy exerts a contrary influence .

Recent moves in the market continue to indicate that the move left will not have the lasting impact some claim and many fear. The transitory nature of the current situation continues to push the market slightly higher .Though the main stream media continues to "hero worship" the new administration ,huge increases in many of the contrary news sources such as Fox News or Rush Limbaugh in both earnings and audence size indicate that much of the public simply is buying .

TGIF ,Obama Bear Market ,and a little CYA for Bernie Maddoff

Surprise surprise ,rumors spread of a Maddoff Deal nothing like a little CYA on a Friday afternoon .

Unemployment hits a 25 year high ,while wall street has finally begone calling the current market sell down the Obama Bear market . Not for nothing but dispute his over whelming support during the campaign from Wall Street ,street patients is about as long as the average fruit fly . You don't perform they turn on you very quickly. and very aggressively . The ridiculously high expectations created by the image machine in the mainstream media coupled with a pretty benign competitor in the general election looks like its already backfiring.

Lets face it,you expect it from RUSH ,but out burst from wimps on CNBC like Kerry loving Crammer or even to a lesser degree Rick Santelli seem to spell doom for this already floundering some say failed administration.

maybe the honeymoon is over?

Maybe the honeymoon is over...

The Obama administration is now pulling out all the stops from coordinated media briefings with CNN and sympathetic media outlets to petitions signed and commercials run against the likes of non other than Rush Limbaugh. The crisis is ON and if we don’t pass the stimulus bill “we are all gonna die”. However the facts belie the crisis with the current slow down still falling far behind the voracity of the slow down in the early 1980’s.

Obama reaches for the bacon.....

So in grand fashion, with the economic pressure on our new president did what politicians over the ages have long resorted to, he reached for the bacon, promising a chicken in every pot and a pool in every back yard, a thousand bucks to every illegal alien and loads of money for every left wing program proposed over the last 40 years .It reads like a laundry list or a wish list resulting in no good deed going unpunished. So much for all that “change”. The only change so far is the price tag, which seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.

The rush to the extreme left is not as extreme as many talk radio commentators such as Rush Limbaugh surmise. Again I repeat it’s just a generational thing the folks who came of age in the 1970’s were never really invested in the free market to begin with. After all they never reaped the benefits or even saw it in action. They were the generation of bad disco, Watergate, hyper inflation, failure in Vietnam, stagflation, drug addiction, the hostage crisis and gas lines. Even the Olympics in Munich were tarnished by violence. These folks have spent there whole lives emotional scared from the trauma of growing up in the 70’s and now is there turn for revenge. Their goal is to punish everyone who has or has done anything and they view the Obama administration as the vehicle to make this happen.
